A controversy broke out on Sunday over Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh being accompanied by hot-shot film maker Ram Gopal Varma and his actor-son Riteish during his visit to terror-hit luxury Taj Mahal and Trident-Oberoi luxury hotels

As eyebrows were raised about the two members from the film industry being in the chief minister's team, Varma said he saw nothing wrong since he happened to be with Riteish when Deshmukh came visiting the Taj Hotel. "I just walked along with him (Riteish). I have no intention of making a film neither do I know Vilasrao Deshmukh," Varma said. "We never have been formally introduced. I doubt he knows me also. I personally have no intention. On making a film on this incident obviously I cannot stand for the rest of the filmmakers in Bollywood," Varma added. Deshmukh has come in for criticism from a section of media, which lampooned him, saying he had gone on a 'picnic' along with son and Varma. "I did not see anything there which the TV coverage has not shown me already. "I have no intention of making a film ever on this issue," he added. Similar was the response of other film makers Rahul Dholakia and Mahesh Bhatt. However, one industry observer said, "It is still too early to say. But going by past experiences, Bollywood film makers are known to jump at any tragedy -- and this one is of a monumental nature -- to choose as subject of their ventures", an industry observer said.

இந்தியாவின் பொருளாதாரத் தலைநகரான மும்பையில் பயங்கரவாதிகள் நடத்தியுள்ள மிகப்பெரிய தாக்குதல் நடவடிக்கைகளில் நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் கொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளனர். சுமார் 300 பேர் காயமடைந்துள்ளனர்.

கடைசியாக கிடைத்த விபரங்கள்

துப்பாக்கிதாரிகளால் முற்றுகையிடப்பட்டிருந்த இரண்டு முன்னணி விடுதிகளின் கட்டுப்பாட்டை முழுமையாக மீட்டெடுக்க பாதுகாப்புப் படையினர் முயன்றுவருகிறார்கள். ஓபராய் விடுதியில் பணயக் கைதிகள் பிடித்துவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் தாஜ் மஹால் விடுதியிலிருந்தவர்கள் விடுவிக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டார்கள் என்றும் மாநில காவல்துறை தலைவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். ஆனாலும் தாஜ் மஹால் விடுதியில் மேலும் சிலர் சிக்கியிருக்கவே செய்கின்றனர். ஒவ்வொரு அறையாக பாதுகாப்புப் படையினர் சோதனை நடத்திவருகிறார்கள். அவ்விடுதியிலிருந்து சில வெடிப்புகளும் துப்பாக்கி சத்தமும் கேட்கக்கூடியதாக இருக்கிறது. தாக்குதல்கள் நடந்த வேறு எட்டு இடங்களையும் பொலிஸாரும் இராணுவத்தினரும் தற்போது கட்டுப்பாட்டுக்குள் கொண்டுவந்துவிட்டதாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.
தாக்குதலாளிகள் ஒரு படகில் வந்ததாக அதிகாரிகள் கூறுகின்றனர். அவர்களில் நான்கு பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டும் ஒன்பது பேர் கைதுசெய்யப்பட்டும் இருப்பதாக அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.

மும்பை சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக நாட்டு மக்களுக்கு தொலைக்காட்சி மூலம் உரையாற்றிய பிரதமர் மன்மோகன் சிங், இந்தச் சம்பவத்தில் ஈடுபட்ட கும்பல், வெளிநாட்டிலிருந்து வந்ததாகக் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். அதுதொடர்பாக, அண்டை நாடுகளிடம் எடுத்துச் செல்லப்படும் என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.

சந்தேகத்துக்குரிய நபர்கள் இந்தியாவுக்குள் நுழைவது தடுக்கப்படும் என்றும், பயங்கரவாதிகளுக்கான நிதி இந்தியாவுக்கு வருவதை முடக்குவதற்கு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும் என்றும் பிரதமர் உறுதியளித்துள்ளார்.

பயங்கரவாதக் குற்றங்களை விசாரிக்க, மத்திய விசாரணை அமைப்பு ஒன்று ஏற்படுத்தப்படுவது அவசியம் என்றும், தற்போதுள்ள தேசிய பாதுகாப்புச் சட்ட விதிகள் மேலும் கடுமையாக்கப்படும் என்றும் மன்மோகன் சிங் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
ஐக்கிய முற்போக்குக் கூட்டணியின் தலைவர் சோனியா காந்தி இதுபற்றிக் கருத்துத் தெரிவிக்கும்போது, இந்த நெருக்கடியான நேரத்தில் அனைவரும் ஒன்றுபட்டு நிற்க வேண்டும் என்று கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளார்.

தாக்குதல் நடந்த இடங்கள் வரைபடத்தில்...

'டெக்கான் முஜாஹிதீன்' என்ற புதிய அமைப்பு இந்த பயங்கரவாத தாக்குதல்களுக்கு பொறுப்பேற்றுள்ளது.

புதன்கிழமை இரவு சுமார் 9.30 மணிக்கு முதல் தாக்குதல் தொடங்கியது. முக்கிய ரயில் நிலையம், மருத்துமனை உள்பட பல இடங்கள் தாக்குதலுக்கு உள்ளாகியிருக்கின்றன.

இந்த பயங்கரவாதத் தாக்குதல்களுக்கு பிரிட்டிஷ் பிரதமர் கோர்டன் பிரவுன், அமெரிக்க ஜனாதிபதி ஜார்ஜ் புஷ், அமெரிக்க அதிபராகத் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள பராக் ஒபாமா உள்பட பல்வேறு உலகத் தலைவர்கள் கண்டனம் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

மும்பையில் இருந்து உலகின் வேறு பகுதிகளுக்கு செல்லும் பெரும்பாலான விமான சேவைகள் ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஆனால் உள்ளூர் விமான சேவைகள் பல இயங்குகின்றன.

நகரில் பதற்றம்

மும்பையில் பயங்கரவாதிகளுக்கு எதிரான நடவடிக்கை சுமார் 16 மணி நேரங்களாக தொடர்ந்து நடந்துவரும் நிலையில், நகரின் இயல்பு வாழக்கை பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பல இடங்களில் ஊரடங்கு உத்திரவு அமலில் உள்ளது. பள்ளிக்கூடங்கள், அரசு அலுவலகங்கள், பங்கு சந்தை உள்ளிட்டவை வியாழனன்று மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன. நகரின் சாலைகள் வெறிச்சோடிக் காணப்படுகின்றன. மக்கள் தத்தமது வீடுகளிலேயே இருக்குமாறு அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

Dignity in Conceding Defeat

John McCain has admitted defeat in the race for the White House. Complete text of Sen. McCain's concession speech available here.

Speaking before a crowd of supporters at an Arizona hotel several minutes ago, he said that he had called his rival, Democrat Barack Obama, to concede.

"My friends, we have -- we have come to the end of a long journey," he told the crowd. "The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly. A little while ago, I had the honor of calling Sen. Barack Obama to congratulate him."

The news was met with boos, but McCain hushed them. In the eloquent speech that followed, McCain acknowledged the special historic significance of Obama's victory and urged Americans to put aside their differences.

"These are difficult times for our country and I pledged to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us in the many challenges we face," McCain said. "I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will."

When he was interrupted by jeers, he tried to calm the crowd again. "Please," he pleaded softly.
"Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans, and believe me when I say no association has ever meant more to me than that. It is natural to feel some disappointment, but tomorrow we must move beyond it and ... get our country moving again."

McCain said he blamed himself for the loss. "We fought as hard as we could," he said. "Though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours," he said.

McCain thanked his family and friends and campaign aides and then thanked Sarah Palin, who stood nearby with tears in her eyes. He called Palin "one of the best campaigners I have ever seen and an impressive new voice in our party for reform and the principles that have always been our greatest strength." That line received the loudest applause of the night.Before leaving the stage McCain said, "This campaign was and will remain the great honor of my life."

Neither Legal Nor Logical - Real Fun

A Student secures lower grade in the externals and after looking at the mark sheet he asks his Professor.



Student: "Can you answer any question? “



Professor: "Surely I must. Otherwise I would not be a professor!"



Student: "Great, well then I would like to ask you a question. If you can give me the correct answer, I will accept my mark as it is. If you however do not know the answer, I want you give me an "A" for the exam. "



Professor: "Okay, it's a deal. So what is the question?"



Student: "What is legal, but not logical, logical, but not legal, and neither logical, nor legal?"



Even after some long and hard consideration, the professor cannot give the student an answer, and therefore changes his Student’s exam mark into an "A", as agreed.



Afterwards, the Professor calls on the Student and asks him the same question.


He immediately answers:

"Sir, you are 60 years old and married to a 30 year old woman, which is legal, but not logical.

Your wife has a 25-year-old lover, which is logical, but not legal.

The fact that you have given your wife's lover an "A", although he really should have failed, is neither legal, nor logical."
